Sacramento Rally to Save the Delta July 29

Rally to Save the Delta
July 29, 2014
Sacramento, California

Join the rally in Sacramento next Tuesday, July 29, to stop the Bay Delta Conservation Plan, better known as the $25 to $60 billion "Twin Tunnels" project. July 29 will also be the last day for public comments on the plan.

Big agribusiness companies in Kern County are promoting the construction of two massive, thirty-five mile tunnels to divert water from the Sacramento River, dewatering the Sacramento-San Joaquin Bay Delta. If this goes through, freshwater flows through the Delta will be sharply reduced, decimating fish species such as chinook salmon, Central Valley steelhead trout, delta smelt, longfin smelt, and green and white sturgeon. The tunnels will also destroy the availability of food and habitat for migratory birds and terrestrial species that depend on the Delta ecosystem to survive.

When: Tuesday, July 29, 11:30 a.m.

Where: West steps of the State Capitol building, 1315 10th St, Sacramento California
